Music Presentation (end of year)


As you get older, music will become more important to many of you. You may already have a favorite band, song, or type of music. I would like to give each of you the opportunity to share and discuss your favorite song with the class.
In general, you will select a favorite song and play it for the class and then you will lead a brief discussion about the song.

What do you need to do to prepare to present and discuss your song?

  • Pick a favorite song that you would like to share with the class and obtain a cd, mp3, or tape that contains the song.

  • Gather some information about the song and be prepared to discuss with the class...

    • If there are lyrics, who wrote the lyrics? (Please present the lyrics as part of the presentation.)
    • Who wrote the music?
    • When was the song released?
    • Is your version the original version?
    • What are some of the instruments being played on the song? Are there any unusual instruments?
    • What is the song about?
    • How does the song make you feel?
    • Why do you like the song?
    • Into what genre does the song fit?
    • What is special about the song?
    • Is the song popular? Why or why not?

  • Additional information for the Webster's presentations:

    • Background information about the band, artist, composer, or director.
    • History of the band, artist, composer, or director.
    • Pictures of the band, artist, composer, or director.
    • What was happening at the time that the song was released that may have had some influence on the artist?
    • Are there any stories behind the song?
    • What is unique about the song?
    • What is unique about the artist
