Parent Teacher Conferences & Communication

Beginning of the Year Conference

Many parents have found it helpful to meet with us at the beginning of the school year in order to talk with us about their child's learning strengths and needs. During this conference we can decide upon individualized learning goals for your child and set up a plan to monitor your child's progress in these specific areas (in addition to our regular curriculum) throughout the year.

On-Going Communication

Our aim is to meet your child's unique learning needs. We can best do that by encouraging you to share your feedback, ask questions, and give input throughout the year. We encourage you to contact us any time you have a question (big or small). Email is the most effective way to reach us (donna@clccharter.org and kelly@clccharter.org). You may also call the classroom (689-2455) before 8:15 AM and/or after 3:00 PM. If you would like our home phone numbers, just let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

Our team web page is a great source of information. Daily work/homework is posted for your reference. We send home a weekly team newsletter in order to let you know what we've been up to at school. Student work and other CLC information is sent home in a weekly Friday Folder. Please check the contents of your child's folder each weekend and return the folder (and any signed forms) on the following Monday.

Written assessments are sent home at the end of each project. (There is usually a two week lag between the end of the project and when the assessments are sent home in your child's Friday Folder). Feel free to schedule a conference with us after you have read through the assessment. We're always willing to meet to discuss your child's progress.

End of the Year Conference

Late in May, we are available to meet for a final conference with you if you'd like. At this conference, your child will present a portfolio of work that addresses his/her progress on the goals that were set at the beginning of the year. Based on our discussion, we can create a set of goals to be focused on during the next school year. These goals and your child's portfolio will be given to his/her new teacher as soon as team placement is determined.
