Assessments
(aka 'report cards')

Your child will receive a variety of assessments from his/her teachers at CLC.

  • Math: Math teachers generally send home assessments at the end of each quarter. You should expect four math assessments during the year. These assessments are sent home separately from the project assessments. Specials: You should expect three rounds of Specials assessments. These assessments are sent home separately from math and project assessments. Project: Project assessments will be sent home at the end of each project. I send home a Fall, Winter, and Spring assessment. In addition to our formal assessment, I often allow your child to write up a self-assessment for each project to reflect his/her view of his/her progress.
  • Reading/Special Education: Your child's reading and/or special education teacher will meet with you to set up and review your child's IEP twice a year and will provide periodic reports on skill development.

Each type of assessment (Math, Specials, Project) follows a different format. Even though the formats may differ, each assessment should convey the following information:

1. The assessment should reflect your child's progress on the course goals and include any adaptations that were made.

2. Project goals and assessment criteria should be clearly stated.

3. Assessment reports should include individualized comments and reference to specific examples of student work.
