Dear Students and Parents, The following is an important document that must be signed and received prior to your child being permitted to take home a CLC laptop. Please read this note and the classroom and technology rules carefully (see below) with your child. Those that know me know that I am not one for rules and regulations, but I take learning very seriously, and I expect my students to take it seriously. I expect all of my students to work hard, learn well, and perform to the best of their ability. However, I also expect my students to think before they act, make good decisions, be respectful, have integrity, and not settle for mediocrity. The majority of my students not only meet my expectations, but they often exceed them. There are, however, a small number of students that choose not to make good decisions and regulate their own behavior. These students can become a negative influence in the classroom and inhibit the academic and developmental progress of themselves and all of the students in the classroom. It is well known that a poorly behaved student can disrupt the learning environment for everyone in a classroom. I will not allow any student or students to inhibit their learning or more importantly inhibit the learning of other students. CLC was established as a place where students can learn and grow to the best of their ability. With that said, working with your child, please review the classroom and technology rules and guidelines that can be linked to from my web site, or you can go directly to, http://clccharter.org:16080/~mark/rules/home.htm Finally, the use of a CLC laptop and access to CLC technology is a privilege and not a right. As such, a student may lose his/her technology privileges at anytime. Failure to consistently complete assignments on time, failure to consistently return the Friday Folder and or important forms on time, disrupting the class..., may all be cause for the loss of a student’s technology privileges. In the case of a student losing the right to use a CLC laptop, they will be provided with an iMac for use at school and an iMac for use at home. In such a case, it will be the parent's responsibility to come to CLC and pick up the home iMac. I have read and understand the note above and the classroom and technology guidelines found on the web at http://clccharter.org:16080/~mark/rules/home.htm.
