MORNING MEETING - Each student will have an opportunity to lead our daily "Morning Meeting." Students use this time to make and listen to announcements, share information about personal accomplishments, and discuss issues relevant to our team. Staff use this time to share the daily schedule, check that homework has been completed, take attendance, help students to order lunch, etc.
MATH - Most math classes use a core textbook and supplemental reinforcement activities. Students generally receive homework 3 - 4 nights a week. Check your child's math teacher's web page for more information.
PROJECT - Interdisciplinary, technology-enhanced projects are the core of our curriculum. Check the project link and assignment calendar link on Donna and Kelly's Page in order to learn more about our current project work.
LITERATURE CIRCLES - During this period, we focus on developing our students' reading skills. Using novels that are related to our project concepts, we break into small reading groups. Students who need extra reading help may work with our reading specialist during this period.

SILENT READING/READ ALOUD- Independent reading time may be used for reading literature circle novels or independent reading choices. Students will be asked to reflect on their independent reading through book talks and periodic student - teacher conferences. Students will keep track of the books that they have completed on their book log. Students are required to read at least 25 novels each year.
PROJECT ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES - During this period, we do mini 'workshops' related to writing skills, technology tools, and presentation techniques. Then our students work on developing projects that incorporate these skills.
SPECIALS - Students participate in a variety of physical education, visual arts and performing arts during our Specials classes.
Course selection forms are sent home at the beginning of each session.
ESP - The Extended School Program (ESP) is our free after school program that is open to CLC students. The ESP is designed to provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can continue with their schoolwork, participate in special activities and "clubs", and maintain and strengthen relationships with fellow CLC students. We offer the program from 3:00 to 5:30. You may pick up your child at any time during the ESP, but need to sign your child out in person from the ESP staff. Parents will be charged for late pickup.
